Arizona BLM
My third shoot will take place in a region of Arizona called the "Arizona strip." Within this scene a campfire will take place and looking at the states website I should be okay to have one during this time of year.
Last night was my first shoot and it went great. I got some good takes with the help of an experienced actor named Shane Wood.

campfire scene look book
I really like the hard shadows from the campfire in this scene from "The Grey" (2011). I want my scene to look similar to this one but add some more cooler moon light as a edge light.

Kinetic shoot/ opening scene.
Here is a look book profile of what the opening scene of my short film will look like. So far the shooting dates for this scene are friday and saturday august 11th & 12th.
I like how motorcycles can represent character in film like a motif or theme for people in movies.

Look book for interrogation scene.
I'd like to follow this scene as a basis for the one I want to shoot for my film. Mine probably will be a little more light up with a warmer color tone. I plan on shooting and finishing my capstone this month!
Locations
For my interior segment of my film, I would like to shoot it at Dixie State University's hanger (new film studio) in one of the office cubicles. I think I could create some good lighting to in order make it look like a police interrogation room. I'd like it to look somewhat Noir but not too much.
For the shootout scene i'd really like to shoot near the Arizona and Utah border at night with artificial moon lighting
Also I'd like to incorporate some rolling shots of my main character on his motorcycle riding which will be an entirely new challenge within itself.

Shoot out scene inspiration.
I'd like the start to my action scene at the beginning of the film to look a lot like this. Just the first minute.
https://youtu.be/jSzy9qQ3mDE
I like the way the black bars control the viewers eyes while adding movement to a still shot. I think it would make a interesting set-up as my main character and the drug dealers size each other up before the shoot out happens.
I feel like doing these kind of effects could add a lot to film without taking up a huge amount of time to do.
I would shoot both characters in the scene separately but with close ups of their face, hands, and feet. I would then edit the close ups as moving segments of the to create tension. Both eye close ups would be moving two each other as segments of their hands, feet, would slip in and out of the frame ether from outside the frame or masked off and emerged from blackness on screen.

A Cast has been assembled.
I have assembled a cast for the my short film.
Spencer Walters will play the lead role of Jack Marston
Ashley Snyder will play one of the police investigators
Wyatt Naplin will play the second police investigator
Don Gilman will play the CIA Agent
Justin Hodge will play the role of a gangster without speaking lines.
Trevan Montgomery or Jacob Hansen will play the role of the gangster with dialogue.
This casting line up is subject to change until the shooting begins.
Now I just need to finalize the locations, set a shot list and schedule some shoots!

Capstone script - Fictional short film.
The idea for my capstone project came to me about a year ago. Since then and after a screen writing class I've been able to put my idea for a capstone on to paper. When creating my script the variables of time, crew, and equipment have given me a set number of pages I can write. I'am happy with this draft and hopefully i'll be able to produce it into a short film soon.
This is the link to the pdf.
